Ita is a Research Associate in the Transitional Justice Institute. She has a BA (Hons) in Politics and an MSSc in Criminal Justice Management from Queen’s University, Belfast. After graduating, she worked from 1998-2001 in the Linen Hall Library, Belfast, including time spent working in the Northern Ireland Political Collection. She joined the University of Ulster in 2001 when she was employed to work with Professor Colm Campbell on projects relating to emergency powers and transitional justice. Ita has held research fellowships from Cornell Law School and the University of Minnesota.
Research Interests
Ita’s research interests are in the areas of political violence, conflict resolution and transitional justice. She is currently undertaking a PhD (part-time) comparatively studying the politics of anti-terrorism legislation in the United States and the United Kingdom. She is involved in ongoing TJI work on the War on Terror and the ‘rule of law’ and is Research Co-ordinator for the ‘Conflict and the Law’ research stream within the TJI.
